DURHAM - Tom Savage completed 23 of 33 passes for 424 yards and six touchdowns, leading Pittsburgh to a 58-55 win over comeback-minded Duke in the Panthers' first visit to the Triangle as an ACC team.
James Conner rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries for Pitt (2-1, 1-1 ACC) in the second highest-scoring game in ACC history. Tyler Boyd caught eight passes for 154 yards and three TDs and Devin Street six for 166 yards and two TDs for the winners.
The result came despite 424 yards total offense from Duke quarterback Brandon Connette. Connette completed 21 of 32 passes for 323 yards and four TDs with four interceptions, also rushing 15 times for 106 yards and a score.
Jamison Crowder caught seven passes for 141 yards and a TD for the Blue Devils (2-2, 0-2), rushing twice for 29 yards and another score and returning a punt 82 yards for a touchdown.
Duke, which never led, trailed 27-7 and 51-28 before cutting the lead to three on Connette's four-yard run and Ross Martin's kick with 3:43 to go.
But the Blue Devils never got the ball back.
