A Bensalem man is suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol and causing a serious accident on E. Lincoln Highway , in Middletown Twp., Bucks County Pa. today, Jan. 28. Police said the accident happened at 8:05 a.m. Fire crews were on scene and thought that they could get a person out of a car by prying the door open.

That quickly escalated to a full extrication with a roof removal and dash displacement. The weather was frigid which hampered first responders efforts. At least three medic units were called to the scene. Police said that a red vehicle slammed into another vehicle in the rear. That vehicle then got pushed into another vehicle. While the red vehicle was traveling south , two other vehicles wound up in the northbound lanes of E. Lincoln Highway.

None of the injuries is life threatening, but that does not mean they are not serious. The road was closed for about an hour until the vehicles could be removed from the scene. Names of the drivers were not released as of press time. Middletown Police
