Four months after retiring as the Rockmart (GA) head football coach, Dan Duff will again prowl the Hixson sidelines.
Duff has been hired as the Wildcats head football coach replacing Jason Fitzgerald who resigned and is the new coach at Meigs County.
The Wildcat program is coming off the best season in school history as they went to their first Quarterfinal round and finished with a 9-4 record.
"It's exciting because the football program is coming off a great season and being able to hire a quality coach and teacher like Coach Duff, who has won here before is a great move for us," Hixson Athletic Director Brian Bray said.
Duff previously served as the Hixson head football coach from 1996 until 2001 and led the Wildcats to four consecutive playoff appearances (1997-2001).
"I never thought that I would be able to come back to Hixson but here I am and I'm still pinching myself," Duff said.
"The thing that makes Hixson special is the people here, the administration and the kids are first class and I am so excited to be back here, I can't wait to get started."
After leaving Hixson, he took over at Rockmart (GA) and led them to five playoff appearances.
While at Hixson, Duff had a 30-35 record and was 63-63 while at Rockmart.
Currently there are open jobs at Dresden, Brighton, Mt. Juliet Christian, York, Northeast, Pickett County, Chattanooga Christian, Hickman County, Whitwell, Middle Tennessee Christian, Bolivar, Fairley, Chattanooga Central and Jackson Christian as schools currently looking for a head coach.
