Due to price matching with Walmart, Best Buys loses $65,000 in one day

While complaints about Wal-mart are not unusual, Best Buy is claiming they were hurt by the advertised pricing of the iPhone 5 over the holiday season. Walmart advertised it had ample of phones in stock for a selling price of $150.This caused Best Buy to sell the phone at the matched rate.

According to the WSJ article, Wal-mart has denied the claim that they didn’t have sufficient stock of the iPhone 5 by stating they were at 98% stock at the time of the promotion. Wal-mart did at the same time decline to comment on the amount of iPhones it had in stores.

Wal-mart has been accused in the past from a dispute with Target and Kmart in the 1990s. Wal-mart contends their advertising is accurate. The Wal-mart complaints are currently being reviewed in Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Missouri.
