Carl Edwards will compete in the Nationwide Series and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series races at Montreal this weekend. Edwards will share driving duties of the No. 77 Ford Dallara with Marcos Ambrose..jpg)
Edwards said Tuesday the deal came together after his soon to be Grand-Am co-driver, Marcos Ambrose, approached him.
“Ambrose just called me up and said, 'Hey, mate, what do you think about running at Montreal?' I said, 'That sounds pretty good.' We put it together pretty quickly, and it looks like it'll be a blast.”
For Edwards the problems getting ready for the race began when he actually got the day of the race mixed up.
"It's a Saturday race,” he said. “At first, I thought it was right before the Nationwide race at Montreal, but we actually run the day before it.”
Edwards and Ambrose practiced the car last week at the road course at Virginia International Raceway, and Edwards said there were some things peculiar to Grand Am racing he’ll have to get used to.
“You will have to watch really carefully for the driver change,” Edwards said. “Its, by far, the most entertaining part that we've done so far. I jumped out of the car and Marcos just kind of grabs me and drags me across the side pod along the ground, and then hops in the car. We had a good time practicing that. The cars are really fun to drive. I'm looking forward to it. It should be good."
