Duct Tape is king at the annual Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival

Here's your chance to take your family on a fun-filled outing to what is quite possibly the most unique festival in the United States when you plan a jaunt to the 11th annual Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival in Avon, Ohio taking place on Friday, June 13, Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15. And the best news is that you don't have to travel very far to attend this Father's Day weekend event.

Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival Hosted by the city of Avon (known as the "Duct Tape Capital of the World"), the Duck Tape Festival will be presented at Veterans Memorial Park and will have a theme this year of "Duck Tape is Out of This World". The Festival is a giant celebration of the locally produced Duck Tape brand duct tape and its many fun and wacky uses. It will also spotlight everything duct tape including art, sculptures and even clothing made from the versatile and multi-purpose product.

In addition, the Festival will feature a huge parade on Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m. that, yes, will include floats made from duct tape.

A Bit of History About Duct Tape Duct tape was originally created during World War II to aid soldiers in waterproofing their ammunition cases and to make repairs in the field. Today the versatile product is used in a multitude of areas including home repair, crafting and in the fashion industry, just to name a few.

Other activities at the Duck Tape Festival include games, amusement rides, a martial arts demonstration and duct tape arts & crafts.

One event you won't want to miss is the chance to participate in the attempt to break a Guinness World Record for "The Most People Modeling in a Duck Tape Fashion Show" at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Participants must wear one article of clothing made from Duck Tape brand duct tape and have at least one accessory (such as a wallet, hat, bracelet, etc.) made from the Duck Tape.

Live entertainment will be provided by performers like Country artists Confederate Railroad and Bucky Covington, Escape - The Journey Tribute band, T and Rich Dueling Pianos and Conquer the World. And don't miss Joy-Unspeakable, the Living Statue.

Of course, there will be lots and lots of food available for purchase.

Hours for the Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival are 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. The WGAR Scan & Win will be on hand and the first 99 listeners will get a free roll of Duck Tape. Prizes, including concert tickets will be up for grabs.
