Having just had a six game win streak snapped on Monday night in Los Angeles, the Anaheim Ducks will put another six game win streak on the line Wednesday night in Anaheim. Feb 27, when the Ducks take on the Nashville Predators, they will be riding a six game home win streak.
The monday night loss to the Kings, spoiled rookie goalie Viktor Fasth's chance to tie the NHL goaltending record of nine straight wins to begin a career. The record is now still held solely by Ray Emery.
Currently in second place in the Western conference, and with the second best overall record in the NHL, Anaheim has a record of 13-3-1. Their only home loss, was an embarrassing 5-0 shellacking at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks in the Ducks' home opener on Jan 25.
The Ducks are 2-0 vs Nashville this season, having beaten them on Jan 26 in Anaheim, and Feb 16 in Nashville. Both games had identical 3-2 scores, and both games were decided in a shootout. Viktor Fasth was in net for both victories, while Pekka Rinne was in net for both losses. The Ducks had 22 shots on goal in each game. Corey Perry scored the game winning shootout goal in both games.
On Feb 26, Anaheim recalled forward Emerson Etem from their AHL affiliate Norfolk Admirals. He will take the roster spot of Peter Holland, who was sent to Norfolk in exchange. Holland was a healthy scratch in Monday night's game against the Kings. Just a day before, He had centered a line, with Teemu Selanne and Bobby Ryan on the wings.
Etem had previously appeared in eight NHL games this season, and spent some time on the top line, with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, prior to being reassigned to Norfolk.
The 20 year old Etem is a native of Long Beach, CA.
Game time is 7:00 pm PT, at Honda Center in Anaheim.
