Duck eggs: A great chicken egg alternative

Richer in texture yet surprisingly similar in taste, duck eggs are an excellent substitute for chicken eggs.

5 reasons to try duck eggs

  1. You have a food allergy or intolerance to chicken eggs. Chicken eggs are both a common allergy and intolerance. Duck eggs and chicken eggs are different enough that being allergic or intolerant to one doesn't mean you are doomed to an eggless diet: try the other!
  2. They are healthy and delicious. Compared to chicken eggs, duck eggs are richer in protein, many minerals, B vitamins and healthy fats, including Omega-3's.
  3. Variety! It is the spice of life, after all. Rotating your diet is beneficial to your taste buds and may prevent you from developing a food intolerance or overdosing on contaminants commonly found in particular foods.
  4. Better for baking. Because of the higher protein and fat content, goods baked using duck eggs tend to be lighter and fluffier.
  5. Supports local farmers! Hidden Hill Farm and Mora Creek Farm provide pastured duck eggs at competitive pricing in Santa Cruz County.
