'Duck Dynasty' in Tennessee: 'Mountain Man' may bring Si Robertson, too

Duck Dynasty” is coming to Tennessee for the Putnam County Fair. According to an article on the Herald-Citizen on Feb. 5, the board planning the fair has already secured “Mountain Man,” whose real name is Tim Guraedy, to appear at the fair on the first Friday night. The board is trying to work out a way to get Uncle Si Robertson to Tennessee, too.

“Duck Dynasty” is a very popular show on A&E Network that features the Robertson family from Louisiana. The comical plots follow the slow-paced lives of the bearded men and their family and friends as they go about running their multi-million dollar duck call business, Duck Commander. It is reality television, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The business is certainly real; it was basically started at the Robertson’s kitchen table with a duck call that patriarch, Phil Robertson, designed with wood from the nearby swamp.

While certainly not traditionally dressed or groomed, the guys on “Duck Dynasty” are working hard to represent traditional values like faith, family, and the great outdoors. The Robertson’s faith is prominently featured in the reality show, and every episode ends with a family prayer before dinner around a long table.

Tim Guraedy is featured as the slow-talking Mountain Man, who doubles as a radio talk show host and the only air-conditioner repairman in the area. In the earlier seasons of the show, Guraedy did not use his real name in association with the program. He is scheduled for the first Friday night of the fair, Aug. 2, from 6-9 p.m. He will meet with fans, sign autographs and he will have Duck Dynasty memorabilia available.

The negotiations with Si Robertson and the contract specifics for the Putnam County Fair are ongoing. The fair board will meet Thursday night, Feb. 7, 2013, and they will vote on the specific package that they can offer. Uncle Si is the most popular character on “Duck Dynasty, and he is “very expensive,” as board member Kim Bradford told the Herald-Citizen.

Uncle Si is Phil Robertson’s younger brother, a Vietnam veteran. He is cast somewhat as a crazy uncle in the show, and his wife is not included in the storyline. After women from all over the country began to mail him marriage proposals, Si Robertson disclosed that he was happily married to Christine Robertson. You can read about that here.

It is hoped that the appearance of “Duck Dynasty” celebrities will generate more interest in the Putnam County Fair.
