A big announcement has created a lot of excitement on Wednesday night in Bristol. Willie Robertson from "Duck Dynasty" is coming to Viking Hall in Bristol on October 19 to appear at a fundraiser for Family Ministries of Greeneville. According to an Aug. 28 article on Times-News, the bearded superstar will be helping Family Ministries raise money for a much-needed 10,000-square-foot expansion for classrooms and counseling facilities that will cost $1.65 million.
Tickets for the 3 p.m. event will be on sale Sept. 7. The Freewill Baptist Family Ministries announced the event on their Facebook page in the hour preceding the airing of the Wednesday night 10 p.m. new episode of "Duck Dynasty." The tickets are priced at $25, $40 and $100 (VIP with photo privileges). You can find out more about tickets at the Viking Hall website. Family Ministries is offering a pre-sale on tickets for their Facebook friends, and you can read about that here.
Free Will Baptist Family Ministries’ heritage and superb record in caring for hurting children began in 1939. It was first established as Free Will Baptist Home for Children, an orphanage opened with Mr. and Mrs. I.L. Stanley as Superintendents. It was a humble beginning, but the care for orphans and other hurting children soon became a permanent facet of FWB Family Ministries. Today, our programs have expanded to meet the needs of the entire family.
Rumors have been circulating that the Robertsons would be in Bristol for the grand opening of Bass Pro Shops in The Pinnacle, the new shopping center being built at Exit 74 off Interstate 81. This Family Ministries fundraiser was a special surprise, and Internet is popping with the news. Every news media channel in the region is carrying the story, and it is probably a given that the tickets will be sold out in a hurry. And, it's a great cause!
