Duck Dynasty season 3 episode 1 recap: Defective dogs & Willie's class reunion

On Wednesday, February 27, episode 1, part 1 for ‘Duck Dynastyseason 3 already had viewers laughing, but part 2 wasn't about to be outshined.

The adventures continued as Korie and Willie prepared for their high school reunion. In their area, reunions are a big deal….and well, Willie has put on more than a few pounds.

Jase doesn’t understand the big deal about reunions, and recalls frog hunting instead of going to his. Brother Jase also of course enjoys making cracks about Willie’s weight.

Korie tries to assure her hubby that she likes a man with a little mean on his bones.
Jase’s response to Korie, “Well you hit the jackpot.”

Then we transitioned over to some dove hunting taking place. Jase is an unapologetic addict, and says that doves are the filet mignon of the sky.

During the dove hunting escapade, Uncle Si is extremely disappointed in his dog Ruby for her refusal to retrieve doves. He decides that his dog is defective, and needs to retire.

Meanwhile, Willie can’t find anything to wear in him and Korie’s large closet. He has decided that Korie shops at stores that sells clothes for little European men. He can’t even button up the brown jacket that she bought him.

Korie suggest that if Willie is wanting to lose a little weight, he can join her at Yoga. Willie of course isn’t thrilled with her idea, and says that Yoga is what men call “stretching.”

Jase laughs at Willie’s attempts to burn calories and get in shape while he is sitting at his desk with a single weight. He convinces him that he will help him get into shape.

Si officially decides that Ruby isn’t retrieving doves out of spite, and that it is a personality issue. He goes with Miss Kay to look for another dog. Upon his arrival, he is extremely picky about his selection. He explains to Miss Kay that he has got to test the dog out first. Miss Kay acknowledges how hard it is to find a dog with Si’s personality.

Jase and Willie’s training sessions begin….but not at the gym. Jase insists that when he cut firewood for a living he was in the best shape of his life, and thinks this same exercise can help Willie. Of course Willie’s cutting firewood is undoubtedly met with criticism.

“I sure hope that ax doesn’t slip and hit you in the gut, because gravy is gonna come out,” remarked Jase.

Then, we see Willie in Yoga class. He decided to join wife Korie, and quickly learns just how difficult this “stretching” really is. The duck commander has a horrible time keeping up with the ladies, and simply isn’t made for Yoga. Daddy Phil watches from a distance, and wonders what has happened to his boy.

Next up, we got to meet Uncle Si’s new dog, which just happens to be……a Poodle. Yes, Si, believes they are great hunting dogs. Though he receives criticism from the guys, and the dog’s overall appearance is made fun of, Si doesn’t care. In fact, Si said Poodles don’t care what other people think about them…therefore, they are like him.

“Elvis had a hair-do too, and look how he done,” insists Si.

Though Si’s dog was initially a joke to the other guys, it proved to be excellent at retrieving doves.

Later, Korie and the children join Willie in the kitchen to show off their reunion attire. Korie looked gorgeous in a classy dress, but would Willie be able to fit the brown jacket she originally had picked out for him?

Papa Willie puts on what appears to be the same jacket…..and buttons it. The duck commander is proud of his supposable weight loss progress.

Clever Korie tells the camera, “A good wife will support her husband no matter what. A great wife will find the receipt and take her husband’s jacket back for a bigger size when no one is looking.”

Oh the Robertson clan…..there is never a dull moment, is there? Tune in next Wednesday night to see what episode two will bring!
