It looks as if Sadie Robertson, daughter of "Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson, just might have inherited a good deal of her mother's grace and beauty along with her father's business acumen. The young reality show personality made her debut on a New York runway Monday for New York Fashion Week. And although she didn't stick to the usual camouflage fashion sported by the male members of the cast, she did remain true to the show's push toward modesty and things family-friendly.
Yahoo TV reported Sept. 9 that the "Duck Dynasty" daughter unveiled a line of prom dresses that were "Willie approved" that she also helped design. The 16-year-old was stunning, treading the runway herself several times to display her co-creations, her entire family -- some in camouflage, of course -- lining the walkway.
At one point, she wore a beautiful above-the-knee gold dress that perfectly complimented her skin tone. She also showed off a white dress with black polka dots that flowed up into a black belt and a shimmering black scalloped top (with a sheer neckline). She would later walk the runway with designer Sherri Hill in the latter gown.
The young heiress to the Duck Commander fortune (the Robertson clan became millionaires off of grandfather Phil Robertson's patented duck calls and father Willie Robertson's business moves that eventually made the brand a hunting staple -- and that was before they all became television star's via AETV's hit show "Duck Dynasty") told Us Weekly that her part in designing the prom dresses was to ensure that they were unique.
"We're living original, that's our motto," the newly minted model said of her "Sadie Robertson Live Original" collection of dresses. "All our dresses are unique and represent who we are."
But Sadie also considered what her dad might say about the designs. "It's gotta be long enough . . . the finger-tip rule," she laughed, labeling the dresses "daddy-approved."
"Everything modest up here," she said, motioning toward her neckline.
Sadie's mother, Korie Robertson, said that the family was proud of their partnership with Sherri Hill. "She's been awesome," she told Us. "And they're a family business like we are, so we feel really great."
Although "Duck Dynasty" is centered around the rambling redneck adventures of the males of the Robertson clan, the wives and daughters have their moments in the spotlight as well. Sadie played a major role in the episode "Driving Miss Sadie," which illuminated her almost nonexistent driving skills as various members of the clan -- dad Willie, uncle Jase, and great-uncle Si -- all attempted to teach her how to drive, all with varying degrees of failure. The humor with which the subject was approached, not to mention the close-knit family ties exhibited, is part of the magic that has launched the series from a popular primetime show to the most watched cable television event of the summer.
And regardless of her driving skills, the show seems to have launched the young Ms. Robertson on a fashion design trajectory.
Sadie Robertson is currently a high school sophomore and looking forward to her own prom this year. She's already been asked by an upperclassman.
"I am excited," Sadie told Us Weekly, admitting she hasn't picked out a gown for the prom just yet. "[I'll pick] one of the dresses in the line. I don't know which one. It's so hard to choose."
