Just when it seems as though ‘Duck Dynasty’ may have possibly reached their peak of popularity, the show gets even bigger, and they break yet another record. Every day across the country more people are tuning in, and becoming ‘duckaholics.’ According to a USA Today article dated Thursday, August 15, nearly 12 million viewers tuned in to watch Phil and Miss Kay renew their vows for the season 4 premiere on Wednesday.
The Louisiana based show is the top rated series in the networks history in all demographic categories. Of the large viewership pool, 6.3 of the 11.8 million viewers are in the 18-to-49 year old category.
The season 4 kickoff snagged more viewers than any other television show on Wednesday night. In comparison to the season 3 premiere, they increased their audience by 37% in viewers, and 26% in young adults. The increase is impressive considering that last season also set major records for the bearded crew.
Internet commentary has been suggesting that the latest episode may be the funniest one to date. If that be the case, it would be quite an accomplishment considering the cast members have always been known for their excessive humor, and quick-wit.
“Thanks to its authentic and engaging characters ‘Duck Dynasty’ has become more than just a reality show, it is a cultural phenomenon,” A&E general manager David McKillop shared in a statement.
“We would like to thank the Robertsons for their incredible partnership. We are all happy, happy, happy,” he concluded.
With the show’s success, the cast members stay busy with high profile appearances, endorsement deals, and speaking engagements. They have action figures, bobble heads, and school supplies out there to boot. It has become clear that the family-friendly show is anything but a flash in the pan.
