The Robertson family from A&E's hit reality series Duck Dynasty have always been open about their strong Christian faith. Phil Robertson has said that the show's producers "cut out most of the spiritual things" minimizing the importance of their family values. In a video posted by CNS News on August 20, 2013, Phil's beliefs were loud and clear on the issue of abortion.
Clad in his camouflage, waving around a Bible, Phil preaches to a large group in what looks like an auditorium.
"And when you got to be the size of my thumb, they suck you out. You wouldn't be here. Then you grow a little bigger, like my fist....and finally eight, nine months later you come out." Phil passionately preaches. "And we debate whether it's a...some woman's right to tear you out of there a piece at a time! C'mon!!!!!! You have a God-given right to live, and of all places, inside your mother. What in the world happened to us?"
Phil wasn't always this passionate about religion. In the 70's he operated a honky-tonk, lived out of a trailer, had drunken nights, bar fights and family was the last thing on his mind. Phil left his wife, Kay and his kids for several weeks to hide in the woods from police after an incident at the bar.
Kay turned to Christ at that time realizing that the marriage could not be saved by just her. She forgave Phil and took him back; this is when their family values and strong Christian faith was born.
