'Duck Dynasty': Phil Robertson passed on playing in NFL

Phil Robertson gave up playing in the NFL so he could go hunting and fishing more often. According to The Hollywood Gossip, in an article dated March 1, Phil Robertson gave up his last year of eligibility to spend time in the Louisiana swamps fishing and hunting.

The decision to quit playing football and go hunting and fishing may have been a good one. Phil Robertson is a self-made millionaire. He is the inventor of Duck Commander duck calls and now the star of the A&E reality show “Duck Dynasty.”

“There is more to some rednecks than what you might think,” Charlie Wilson, from Oklahoma City, said. “You may look at them and think all they do is sit around getting drunk, but they can be quite complicated. An NFL football player? I love it.”

Phil Robertson played quarterback for Louisiana Tech for two years. Not just any quarterback, but the starting quarterback. The second-string quarterback turned out to be none other than NFL great Terry Bradshaw.

The football history of Phil Robertson has yet to be mentioned on “Duck Dynasty.” The third season just started, so there is plenty of time for fans to hear Phil Robertson explain how he is “happy, happy, happy” not to have played for the NFL.
