“Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil, blew off one of the most prestigious interviews awarded to a celebrity to go duck hunting. Phil was due to be interviewed along with the “Duck Dynasty” clan for Barbara Walter’s special, “The Most Fascinating People of 2013,” but he had plans to go duck hunting and sent Miss Kay in his place, according to Wet Paint on Dec. 17.
Phil is that kind of guy, he doesn’t go in for all this glamor and fame, he wants his gun and his ducks, which come before anything else. He even missed the birth of his son Jas because he was duck hunting and he wouldn’t leave. In one of the recent shows a photographer tried to get Phil enthusiastic about the photo shoot, but that didn’t happen.
Phil just wanted to go about his daily activities and didn’t care for all that posing the photographer was requesting from him and Miss Kay. Miss Kay, the sweetest woman on television today, was happy to oblige, but her husband held steadfast on not doing anything that looked foolish to him.
Miss Kay was asked to wave in one direction like she was saying hi to someone. Phil just shook his head and said, he’s got Miss Kay waving at nobody. While the Robinson family can come off as red necks, these guys are businessmen and extremely intelligent, when it comes to building an empire.
Phil not showing up for the Barbara Walters interview just adds more evidence to the reasons that people can’t get enough of this show. There is not a fake bone in any of the Robertson family members. Phil picking duck hunting over the glamor of an interview with an icon reinforces the fact that he’s genuine.
Miss Kay could have said Phil had a cold, the flu or that he was under the weather, but telling Walters the truth is what these folks are all about. It was his love of duck hunting that made the family wealthy, so why would he turn his back on his first love to sit down and just talk about it? In Phil’s world that wouldn’t make a bit of sense and evident by the numbers that tune in and watch this clan weekly, Phil’s world is making more and more sense every week!
