‘Duck Dynasty’ Lisa Robertson reveals abuse in new book

The Women of Duck Commander

The ladies of “Duck Dynasty” have come together to pen a biography about life behind Duck Commander. In the book, one Robertson comes forward regarding childhood abuse, according to Time on April 1.

Alan Robertson makes his appearance during season four of “Duck Dynasty.” He is the minister of White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, La. The church is often shown on the television show. Alan’s wife, Lisa Robertson, partnered with Kay, Missy, Korie, and Jessica to reveal “surprising insights from the women behind the beards about what makes this family work.”

In the book the women do not shy away from the dark and dreary. According to Time, they discuss “marital problems and alcohol abuse.” However, Lisa may just have the darkest words of them all. Robertson discusses being sexually abused by a family member when she was young.

As a little girl, I had an extended family member who had major drug and alcohol problems. Unfortunately, that person lived with my grandparents, so I had to see him often. Because I spent so much time at my grandparents’ house, I was easy prey for him. My earliest memory of being molested was at the age of seven when he started to do things to me, things that made me feel bad and dirty.

Like so many others who tell their tale, Lisa hopes that survivors of childhood sexual abuse will realize they all have hope.
