Well, it looks like the bearded men have outdone themselves once again. As their ratings continued to be on the rise week after week, the season finale on Wednesday, December 5, brought them to an even higher place.
In an Entertainment Weekly article, dated Friday, Dec. 7, it was reported that ‘Duck Dynasty’ became A&E’s most watched show in their history. Just a week ago, it was reported that this hit show had almost 5 million viewers tune in. Well, guess what? On the redneck Christmas finale, an astounding 6.5 million viewers joined in on the fun.
Not only has the duck call business lured in the most viewers on the A&E telecast, but they have been either beating out or at least tying with some of the most popular major network shows on television!
Though Duck Dynasty was a massive success in season one, it is clear that the show has a serious staying power. This second season of ‘Duck Dynasty,’ the Robertsons watched their audience grow by 139% in comparison to season one. EW.com recently released a list of Fall TV Winners & Losers, and pointed out that “Red State reality shows” have been performing stronger than ever this fall. EW.com makes an indisputable point. It appears that TV enthusiasts want to watch good, genuine people have a good ole’ time. Perhaps the scripted, drama-filled Kardashians are about to get a run for their money.
This Christian cast has seen their ratings soar, despite what the usual Hollywood regularities and normality’s are.
Though duck fans will have to occupy their Wednesday nights with something else for a bit, it is likely safe to say that a season 3 is underway. Congratulations to ‘Duck Dynasty’ on another successful season, and we hope the beards will be back soon.
