It's not often that a tv show has made such an impact on our world. Duck Dynasty has made its mark on society, the good and the bad. Either way, it is smart and family oriented where each episode ends with a Waltonlike family dinner.
A & E has found a reality, cable show that in most instances is smart and humorous with one liners that are being shot off as much as Phil's shotgun. Who is Phil? He is Phil Robertson, the patriarch and founder of Duck Commander, a multi-million dollar duck calling company located in the rural southern town of West Monroe, Louisiana.
The episodes revolve around the Robertson family. Miss Kay, the matriarch has four grown sons where one runs the business with his brother, her husband Phil and his off the cuff brother Si. Miss Kay adores her extended family, including her rat terriers.
Willie, her son is the company man. He spends many episodes trying to get "the boys" working while there is a personal family experience going on, too. The "good ole' boys' are fun to watch and Uncle Si's quips and one liners are clever.
This past episode was about Willie's son going through a break-up and Miss Kay and Phil having a professional photo shoot with their dogs. While so much of the show was witty one liners, Phil made a few off color comments to the gay photographer.
The show is real and not all of the dialogue is sensitive to all people, sometimes homophobic. But, it is family and has a keen sense of insight into the human condition, both good and bad.
