‘Duck Dynasty' couple speaks out on Phil Robertson controversy and future plans

Willie and Korie Robertson finally broke their silence. As part of the Fox News “All-American New Year” special, the “Duck Dynasty” couple was exclusively interviewed via satellite on Tuesday. The network posted the chat on Jan. 1 as they spoke out on the controversy that has surrounded their family recently.

The duo took the time out of their holiday celebration in Steamboat Springs, Colo. to address the issue of Phil Robertson’s suspension being lifted and their relationship with A&E. The head of the Robertson family was just recently reinstated by the network to continue filming for the hit reality show. Fox’s Bill Hemmer and Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked his 41-year-old son what he thought of the network’s decision.

"We're just glad to be back to work. A&E and us are fine,” the company’s CEO said. “The Robertson’s, we’re looking forward to getting back to making some funny shows and it's a new year, so we're ready to break in a new year and start all over again."

He also said that they are all excited about another season starting up on Jan. 15 and have already filmed a couple episodes for the next season. The family is ready to move on. Family is what it is all about, according to Korie Robertson.

"I’m just glad the family is all together," she said. "The best thing about the show is we get to do it together as a family, and that fact that we get to continue to do that, we're all happy, happy, happy."

She went on to say that they will continue to thank God for their blessings, forgive each other, and laugh and have fun as they always do. The mom-of-five will also continue to work on promoting adoption, which is something that is close to her heart. Their son, Will, was adopted as a baby and they also have a foster daughter, Rebecca.

What does her bearded husband have planned for the upcoming year? The bandana-wearing guy dished that he will be taking better care of his beard. He called it ‘getting back to the beard.’ Maybe he can take some lessons from younger brother Jep on that one. They were in good spirits and having some much needed fun.

The couple even shared a kiss on air, even though it wasn’t quite midnight yet in Colorado. A familiar face was also seen that looked a lot like country singer Luke Bryan. In fact, it was the man himself as he was at the celebration with the Robertson’s. Bryan tried to steal an on-air kiss from Willie Robertson but it was all in good fun. It looks like the two have started up a great friendship between them.

When asked what Phil Robertson was doing for New Year’s Eve, his son said that he was probably at home already asleep. He has to get up early to go duck hunting after all. It sounds like just another year in the life of the Robertson family

Are you looking forward to the premiere of “Duck Dynasty” on Jan. 15?
