Phil Roberston also known as the Duck Commander is a living legend in Louisiana.
Formerly drafted by Louisiana Tech as first-string quarterback to play alongside Terry Bradshaw, Robertson turned down the offer because it interfered with duck season.
Instead, Robertson who married his 16-year old high school sweetheart Kay, built a house by the river where they raised their four sons, Willie, Jase, Jeptha and Alan, who is not featured in the show.
Mrs. Kay is a cross between Paula Deen and Mother Theresa, she's sweet and thoughtful but don't be mistaken, what she says goes.
A passionate man, Robertson's love for duck hunting lead him to create a duck whistle in 1973 which he named the Duck Commander.
The Duck Commander became very popular amongst duck hunters and the Robertson family fortune soon began to develop.
Duck Commander which started in the Robertson living room was turned into a major success with the vision of Willie Robertson, CEO and the participation of the rest of the gang.
In no time at all the duck dynasty revolution took off.
The show which is A&E's most watched series is most known for the daily interactions of a multimillion dollar family who lives life in their own bayou way.
Story lines like Phil Robertson's following the same routine during the ten-week duck hunting season of no showering, shaving or washing of cloths set out to grab the viewers attention.
The real fun begins when the camera points to Willie and Jase's different views on the way the employees perform the company's daily operations. Willie and Jase are constantly going at it in a fun way but the real joker is Uncle Si.
"Being a redneck has its perks, including buying new trucks, gadgets and swanky suits," Willie Robertson said, "working with kin can be a headache."
The show always ends around the dinner table with Phil saying grace and Willie's narration of family values, love and fun.
Their love for each other is not only entertaining but empowering. Some may think this eccentric life is a bit much but others, can't get enough of it.
