Run, Duchess, run. For those who feel that they're too dainty or dignified to run, jog or hike, the newly svelte Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has a message: Nonsense. She just completed a rigorous regime of running and hiking that resulted in losing two stones (about 28 pounds), reported the UK Mirror on Dec. 29.
Once cruelly nicknamed the Duchess of Pork, Fergie headed to the Swiss Alps with personal trainer Josh Salzmann to transform her body. Her daily routine included running and mountain hikes.
"I went up to the mountains, and I ran every day. That’s how I got fit," she announced proudly.
And although she's delighted that she lost the weight, Fergie now wants to help others, in particular overweight children.
“I may have lost 30 pounds, but I want to help combat global obesity," she said. "I want to really get into America and support young children who need to be educated about the future."
During her stay in the Alps, Fergie didn't rough it. Instead, she enjoyed life in a luxury seven-bedroom £17,000-a-week chalet. Her trainer for more than 20 years, Salzmann, supervised her workouts there.
Salzmann also trains Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson. He's created his own fitness DVD "Home Workout & Advanced Home Workout" (click for details).
As for diet, Sarah reportedly ate "blended foods," such as protein shakes. She's previously admitted to having a problem with comfort eating, describing her weight wars in her book "Finding Sarah: A Duchess's Journey to Find Herself."
