The Duchess of Cambridge recently revealed plans to visit two of her new charities, Action on Addiction and the National Portrait Gallery, but it emerged yesterday that she'd already secretly put a jump-start on her royal career. The Duchess has spent several hours speaking with alcoholics and addicts, according to “The Daily Mail.”
The Duchess' “private” meeting was to Clouds House in Wiltshire, one of Action on Addiction's facilities in Wiltshire. She will be at the Lucian Freud exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery on Wednesday, and next week plans a visit to Liverpool. (Story continues below.)
The Brink, an alcohol-free bar that's on the Duchess of Cambridge's visit list, has already announced that it's creating a special smoothie for the occasion. “The Liverpool Echo” describes a creation seemingly inspired by a nonalcoholic pina colada—its ingredients are honey, almonds, milk, cream, and banana (but no pineapple).
Meanwhile, rumors that the Duchess might have been about to take on a patronage of the England and Wales Cricket Board were quashed when St. James' Palace reportedly said the ECB had not, actually, put in a formal request.
The Duchess is “looking forward” to the visit, and has reportedly been prepared for her public toe-wetting through a series of chats and tips from the Queen. “The Daily Mail” says that she will be accompanying the Queen on two Diamond Jubilee engagements in March.
