The Duchess of Cambridge turns 30 on January 9, and Pippa Middleton, her party planner sister, is scheming an 80s-themed party to celebrate, it was reported today. According to “The Daily Mail,” the party news is courtesy of a “royal source” who spoke with Italian gossip magazine “Grazia,” and the birthday event's location is being kept a secret just as safe as Kate Middleton's New Year's plan.
The retro party is said to be including cocktails and karaoke. It will happen sometime this weekend, perhaps after the Duke and Duchess have attended the premiere of “War Horse,” also this weekend. The Duchess of Cambridge's 30th birthday party is for close friends and family only, which means that it will have its share of A-listers and socialites. (Story continues below.)
The Duchess has reportedly instructed invitees, who've already received “Save the Date” cards, to donate to charity rather than buy her unnecessary gifts. Another rumor surrounding the occasion, Kate Middleton's first birthday as a Royal, suggests that Prince William has commissioned an oil portrait of his new Duchess.
Perhaps he will take it with him on his six-week tour of duty in the Falklands, which is coming up next month.
