Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge looked lovely in cream as she and husband Prince William, Duke of Cambridge attended the christening of the newest addition to the family, little Prince George of Cambridge earlier today October 23, 2013 in London, England.
The christening of three month-old Prince George of Cambridge was performed by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace, also attended by immediate members of the British Royal family including George’s uncle Prince Harry, his grandfather Prince Charles and his second wife Duchess Camilla as well as great grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and great grandfather Prince Phillip.
Duchess Kate looked lovely in her cream Jane Burton for Alexander McQueen (the same design house she used for her wedding gown) dress with ruffled detailing over the bodice and hips in a peplum effect, accessorized with a cream pillbox hat and beige pumps, while Prince George looked precious in his long cream Honiton lace christening gown.
Word has it that Prince George’s christening gown is a replica of the 172 year-old lace gown first worn by Queen Victoria's firstborn daughter Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa in 1841.
The original christening gown, also worn by the Queen, Charles, William, Harry, Beatrice, Eugenie and others, was remade by the Queen's dressmaker Angela Kelly in 2008 when the original became too worn for use.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and brother Prince Harry both chose dark blue suits for the occasion.
Queen Elizabeth II attended the christening in a pretty turquoise coat, teamed with a matching turquoise hat, her favorite pearls, a brooch, black gloves, black patent leather handbag and black leather pumps. Prince Phillip wore a black suit for the occasion.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall too wore a cream coat, teamed with a cream hat, a multi-strand pearl choker and beige heels, while husband, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, grandfather to Prince George looked dapper in his dark blue suit and pearl grey tie.
We take a good look at little Prince George today at his christening and it’s evident that he resembles both his father and his mother, though one really cannot tell the color of his eyes or hair just as yet – in time we shall see…
