Dubnyk traded to Predators

According to TSN on Wednesday, the Edmonton Oilers have traded Calgary-raised goaltender Devan Dubnyk to the Nashville Predators for checking-line forward Matt Hendricks.

Dubnyk had shared duties with Ilya Bryzgalov in Edmonton this season, and struggled. He was only 11-17-2 with a 3.36 goals against average and .894 save percentage.

Dubnyk got off to a horrendous start to the season. In the month of October he was 2-5 with a goals against average of 4.01 and a save percentage of .878.

Dubnyuk now joins a Predators' squad where he could potentially be number four on the depth chart once Pekka Rinne returns from injury--behind Rinne, Carter Hutton an Marek Mazanec. Do not be surprised if the Predators send Dubnyk to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League in the very near future.

Hendricks meanwhile only has two goals and two assists, but will be relied upon to solidify the Oilers' checking lines that have equally struggled this season to keep the puck out of the net.

The Oilers then acquired Ben Scrivens from Los Angeles for a third round pick in the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Scrivens has a similarity to Oilers' hockey hall of fame goaltender Grant Fuhr because they are both from Spruce Grove.

Edmonton has given up a NHL high 174 goals this season. Things have gone so bad in the Oilers' own zone this season, the New York Islanders have given up the second most goals in the NHL, but have given up 18 fewer goals than Edmonton at 156 goals against.
