Dubai is already the home to the world's tallest building and last night it was the scene of the world's largest fireworks' display.
In fact it was the largest display of fireworks in history, says Newser.com.
That fact was verified by the Guinness World Records staff who were there to agree that the 400,000 fireworks used was the biggest the world had seen to date.
"I have seen the video of the Dubai fireworks and it was nothing short of spectacular!" says San Francisco resident, Katie Adler. "I think it will be a long, long time before anybody manages to beat that."
The fireworks' show lasted for 30 minutes and with the 400,000 fireworks being used, miles of the local shoreline were lit up.
Overseas, in London, England, meanwhile, food was the theme of the evening:
"The annual fireworks display was a more sensory affair than usual, featuring peach-flavored snow, edible banana confetti, and orange-scented bubbles, the AP reports."
