Duane Dog Chapman celebrates birthday and the start of a new life

Duane “Dog” Chapman from the hit TV reality show, “Dog and Beth: On The Hunt” had a very happy birthday celebration, according to Hawaii News Now, Feb. 7, 2014. Dog turned turned 61 on Sunday, but instead of celebrating on that day, they waited until February 6. That day is very significant to Dog because 35 years ago, he walked out of a Texas prison a free man. Dog served 18-months in jail for the murder of a drug dealer who was actually killed by a gang member.

Dog's wife, Beth, organized the party, which was held at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel at Waikiki on Thursday. The theme for his party was “Denim & Diamonds.” Over 150 of Dog's family and closest friends showed up to help celebrate. Beth invited people from Dog's past who helped him through life.

According to Hawaii News Now, Dog said, "I am very lucky and very proud to be able to live in Hawaii. As I go across the United States there's a lot of beautiful places in America but the safest and the most beautiful and the most loved is where I will find my final resting place is Hawaii."

Beth hired some big named guests to provide entertainment. Chris Janson performed during the main program. The emcee was Tony Silva and Kahulanui performed during “Cocktail Hour.”

They had a delicious array of food including prime rib, chicken, pork fried rice, Hawaiian style chicken wings and cheese. For dessert, they had lots of candy like cotton candy, gummy worms and bears, M&M in the colors of black and pink and cupcakes. They even had an ice sculpture that resembled Dog’s badge.

Beth Chapman reportedly said, "When you do the kind of work we do, which can get pretty dangerous at times, we celebrate every birthday in a big way, surrounded by the friends and family we love. I felt it was important to have this party at home, and bring some business back to Hawaii."

For those of us who didn't receive an invitation to this extravagant party for the famous bounty hunter, we will be able to watch the highlights on an upcoming show of “Dog and Beth: On the Hunt.” The show airs on CMT and is expected to return in the second quarter of 2014. They've been renewed for 11 one-hour episodes.

Happy birthday, Dog. Hope you have many more.
