First it was Lancaster Speedway and Dragway, then it was Dunn Tire Raceway Park. Now the 5/8-mile, 1/10-mile and drag strip facility is known as Elegant Builders Raceway Park thanks to a new sponsorship agreement – the name has changed but the action will continue throughout the week from April to September 2013.
Drag racing on the IHRA-sanctioned track gets underway on Friday, April 26th with racing throughout the summer on Friday nights through September 27th (no racing September 6th). Every Tuesday beginning May 14th is “Test and Tune” night, and every Wednesday beginning May 8th is WYRK Cruise and Bike Night with Grudge Drags. The highlight of the season will be the Nitro Night of Fire featuring the Top Fuel dragsters of Bobby Lagana and Bruce Litten on Friday, July 12th.
Stock car racing takes the green flag on Saturday, May 4th, highlighted by the annual 110-lap Tommy Druar-Tony Jankowiak Memorial Race for the Modifieds on Saturday, August 17th. Scheduled Saturday nights for stock car racing so far are May 4th, 11th and 18th; June 1st, 8th and 15th; July 13th and 27th; August 3rd, 10th and 17th; and September 14th. The 2013 stock car racing season ends September 20th through 22nd with the US Open, featuring the Race of Champions Modified Tour.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with racing action getting underway at 6:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights. Some special events are still be booked by the track – check the website elegantbuildersraceway.com for more information.
