Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra is going to “raise the Dead” across the US and in Jamaica in the next few months. Dark Star Orchestra take the rather unique approach of selecting a particular era or even show from the Dead’s 30-year career and recreating it on stage using positioning, vocal arrangements, specific musical equipment and instruments to fit the era of the show they are performing. Following each performance the band, which has performed more than 2,200 shows in 15 years, announces the date and venue of the original performance.
Dark Star Orchestra will be touring extensively in the US and Jamaica in the next few months. Shows include the four-night Jamaican Jam in the Sand at Breezes Grand Resort & Spa in Negril, Jamaica with Keller Williams supporting, and the three-day Dark Star Jubilee, Legend Valley Campground, Thornville, OH with a performance from the group each night as well as a full slate of jamband performances, camping and other activities during the day. The winter/spring tour also includes several special acoustic performances.
