Nintendo announced earlier today that the latest iterations of their dual-screened handheld, the DSi and the DSi XL, will both drop in price on September 12. The DSi will drop from $169.99 to $149.99, and the XL from $189.99 to $169.99.
MY TAKE: People are speculating that this move comes as a result of the DS' lagging sales. Others, including myself, see this as evidence that Nintendo will be launching the 3DS, their next-generation handheld, sooner rather than later--and it may be cheaper than anticipated. With Nintendo stating that they'll finally announce the launch date and pricing of the 3DS at the end of September, we'll just have to wait and see.
