Dry today, heavy rain possible on Tuesday across northeastern Ohio (Video)

High pressure will build across the region today. This will provide northeastern Ohio will a fair, dry day. Skies will be partly sunny with high temperatures in the mid to upper 30s.

Low pressure will strengthen across the southern plains today, then move into the Mississippi and lower Ohio Valleys tonight and Tuesday. Deep moisture and milder air will stream northeastward toward the region tonight. Clouds will increase and there is a slight chance of a little light rain or freezing rain arriving by dawn on Tuesday. Lows tonight will dip into the 20s early, then slowly rise toward day break Tuesday.

Rain or freezing rain will change to all rain on Tuesday as milder air spreads across the area. The rain could be locally heavy, especially during the afternoon. Highs on Tuesday will rise into the mid to upper 30s.

The storm will move across Ohio Tuesday night and be located near Lake Erie by Wednesday morning. Rain will continue into Tuesday night, but slight colder air wrapping into the system could cause the rain to mix with or change over to snow late Tuesday night. Lows will fall to the low 30s.

Rain and/or snow is likely on Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 30s.

Eventually enough cold air will arrive to cause a complete change over to snow in all areas Wednesday night, with occasional snow showers persisting through Thursday and Friday as the system will be slow to exit the region. Highs both days will be in the low 30s.
