How would you like to save time in your beauty routine, improve the health of your hair and extend the life of your blow out or hairstyle? Two words: Dry shampoo. Not only will you save time styling, you’ll also avoid over-washing, which can strip hair of its natural and necessary oils. This simple step and product will change the life of your hair.

Dry shampoos have been around for decades, but have grown in popularity in recent years. There are powder and aerosol varieties, though aerosols will also provide volume and lift at the root, a great option for fine hair. Oscar Blandi, Dove, Pantene, Tresemé, Suave and Herbal Essences offer dry shampoo products at a variety of price points. Some are colorless, and some are not, so you’ll want to be sure to match the dry shampoo to your hair color. Most also have a clean, fresh scent we well.

How to use dry shampoo:

• Ensure hair is completely dry.
• Spray the product at least six inches from the roots to absorb excess oil and avoid buildup. Product is not necessary mid-shaft or on ends.
• Allow two to three minutes for the product to dry before combing or styling. Don’t worry if there is excess color or moderate buildup after you apply; after it dries it will dissipate with combing or brushing.
• Style as usual.

The most important thing to remember is that you must let it dry after application. Leave the product on for several minutes, undisturbed, to allow it time to absorb the oil. Dry shampoo is a great styling option, but is not a complete replacement for tradidional shampooing. After two or three days, you will want to shower and thoroughly wash your hair.

So make the investment, and see for your self how dry shampooing will save you time, preserve the health of your hair and keep your look fresh.
