Dry November = Snowy Winter?

November 2012 will go into the books as a chilly month here in Baltimore. The average High temps were about 3.6 degrees below average, but it was also a dry month with only 0.77” of rain. There have been only 11 Novembers that have had less than 1” of rain since 1883! While that is an impressive stat, those numbers might be able to tell us something about the upcoming winter season. The average amount of winter snowfall after those 11 dry Novembers produced 28.5” of snow! In an average winter here in Baltimore, we get about 19”. So, history might be on the side of those cheering for a snowy winter…we’ll see!
