Drunken driving leaves one dead in south Houston

The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident on south Main on Sunday afternoon, June 23. The suspect Ruben Prado, 32, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in state district criminal court.
The male victim, whose age is unknown at this point, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The vehicular crimes division Sergeant J. Engelhardt and Officer B. Mark reported that Prado was driving a green Ford Explorer westbound on the South Main service road and entering the main lanes of Highway 90 when he lost control of the vehicle.
The Explorer then struck the right rear side of a white Toyota 4-Runner traveling in the center lane of Highway 90. Both of the vehicles lost control and they rolled several times. Another passenger in the Explorer SUV was killed.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota were both transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in southwest Houston with non life-threatening injuries. Prado was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and then taken into custody.
Charges are pending against Prado from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
