The government shutdown has hit everyone hard trickling down from furloughed employees to workers of concession stands now closed along with the National Parks and National Monuments. Revolution Messaging released DrunkDialCongress.org yesterday, Oct. 11, encouraging the public to drunk dial up a member of Congress to give them a real gut felt rant.
Finally a real way to scream out one's true feelings at those who have shut down the government.
Frustrations are heating up as veterans and hard working people are being effected more and more with every day that the shutdown continues. Through DrunkDialCongress.org one can actually call, scream and let out their feelings directly to a congressional member. Of course it is not a necessary prerequisite to get drunk and dial but the website is encouraging people to enjoy a drink, just as their representatives are now using their time doing, before calling to shout at a congressional member about the shutdown. Drink recipes are provided by DrunkDialCongress.org to get the party going in order to enhance the drunk dialing experience.
Simply type in your phone number and get connected to a Congress member. After a short fun drunken message, one will immediately receive a phone call from an actual Congress member's office in which one can voice their true feelings about the shutdown and ask specific questions. It can really be an enlightening experience. Through this service the office of Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) called to express his concerns and report that he is refusing to except his pay during this action. According to the Washington Post as of Thursday, Oct 10 almost 250 lawmakers are refusing or donating their pay during the shutdown.
Debates between individuals are no longer taking place attacking opposite parties. By shutting down the government the congressional representatives have actually brought the people of the United States together in their anger over the shutdown. Have a drink, or not, and dial up a random Congress member to let your voice be heard.
Place a call to express displeasure over the shutdown. Never be afraid to dance!
