A drunk dial Congress option for people venting their frustrations at Congress over the continuing government shutdown has been made simple this week with the viral hilarity of a new website, DrunkDialCongress.org. According to FOX6Now this Friday, Oct. 11, the process is easy as going online and inputting your cell number into the operating system, and the humor soon begins.
The drunk dial Congress site was allegedly made as a “joke” to help people vent their recent frustrations at either Congress or the government officials themselves during the limitations placed upon some citizens in the shutdown. Anger at the loss of time and money over the political stalemate is said on the site to lead some people to drinking, and from that drinking, we are prone to giving these lawmakers “a real piece of our minds.”
The way to give these lawmakers a sense of the frustration we’re feeling? A drunk dialed call to Congress, of course! This recently created site, again titled DrunkDialCongress.org, was formally launched very early this Thursday morning. The website enables people to contact a random member of Congress and leave a message for them.
After inputting a number, they will receive a slurred automated message from a male voice, telling them they too are fed up with the government shutdown, and that this drunk dial Congress option is a way to vent that pent-up annoyance. The callers are provided with a number to call the political representative, and while they wait, even a few humorous choice words to say to them in their message.
Drunk dialing a member of Congress might seem like an irresponsible choice, most certainly, but for the thousands of users already using this new website, it seems to prove the point that when we are drunk and in need to vent our frustrations, drunk dialing is a simple inevitability.
