Drug sniffing K-9 missing in Wisconsin

A Wood County Sheriff's Department canine has disappeared in Wisconsin.

According to Monday's Wisconsin Rapids Tribune, the German shepherd, named "Toro," disappeared after executing a search for drugs on a vehicle.

Toro was being utilized by the Wisconsin State Patrol for the search.

The 80-pound dog, who is trained in narcotics detection, slipped away from his handler and disappeared into the woods just north of Highway 54 in Portage County.

Though searchers have been combing the area, the missing dog has not yet been located.

When Toro disappeared, he was wearing a collar and his leash was still attached.

Anyone who has spotted Toro, or who has any information which may help lead to his recovery, is asked to call Wood County Dispatch Center at 715-421-8702.
