Apparently, while the Executive Office of the President (EOP) has been watching The Drudge Report, Matt Drudge has been watching them -- watch him. Imagine two sets of eyes staring at one another through a cyber keyhole to get the visual.
In his clever Twitter "thank you" note, on Dec. 9, 2013, Matt Drudge let the White House EOP (official Twitter alias Jay Carney (EOP)Verified account @PressSec) know he was looking right back. He even rubbed it in with an exclamation point, "Wild night on DRUDGEREPORT. Frightening futuristic flashes... Continued thanks for all who visit site, including you http://eop.gov !"
Type in EOP on Twitter and immediately Jay Carney (EOP)Verified account @PressSec pops up. Carney needs to keep abreast of the Drudge Report headlines because he sits on the Drudge hot seat every day. Of note, Carney recently tried to de-legitimize the Drudge Report, chiding a reporter who asked about information from the Drudge Report to, "Be mindful of your sources."
However, where would Carney be without The Drudge Report, a valuable tool for the White House? A visit a day to the Drudge Report the first thing in the morning and the Obama administration pretty well knows who and what they need to shoot down. Since a single look is insufficient because the Drudge headlines change throughout the day, it's possible the White House requires several people whose sole duty is to monitor the site, or a bot called, "Drudge."
If the White House isn't using bots to monitor specific searches, taxpayers have a lot of people working in Washington who could be doing something better. For instance, why would we pay someone in Washington to read, "Obama's Elena Kagan isn't gay but her lesbian partner is," for any reason?

If this were a tech savvy White House, Matt Drudge wouldn't be aware the EOP was haunting his site. A tech savvy White House would cover their trail. Then again, this is the same White House that gave us Healthcare.gov.
