Drudge Report: Michelle Obama inspired Matt's 7-minute mile

Mark this date: Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. On the morning of this day, Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report outdid himself, tweeting of how he was inspired by Michelle Obama to run "a mile in 7-minutes."

It's natural for thoughts to automatically swing to the First Lady's "Let's Move," project, the program she spearheaded to help combat the growing problem of childhood obesity with exercise and healthier food choices. However, before anyone gives Matt a hand for embracing a healthy lifestyle, for getting out there and moving, it might be best to hold the applause.

Matt's tweet follows:

Ran a mile in 7-minutes this morning, imagining Michelle Obama was chasing me with a long needle and syringe...

The Drudge Report recently provided a link to a Washington Examiner story about how Michelle Obama is reaching out by email to supporters to help her husband, President Obama, by contributing ten dollars before his State of the Union address tonight. Michelle concluded her email with this request: "So before Barack gives his State of the Union address tomorrow, chip in $10 or more and help protect Obamacare."

Michelle Obama has been supporting the dream of Obamacare since her husband's first campaign for the presidency. That may be longer than Matt Drudge has been tweeting. Although his first tweet is dated 2011, Matt limits his tweets to 100, apparently deleting older tweets as he posts new ones.

In any case, Michelle is as known for her quick come-backs as Drudge is known for his snarky tweets. It will be interesting to see how Michelle responds to this news that she "inspired" Matt's 7-minute mile.

According to Andrea Tantaros of Fox News "The Five," conservative men have to be very careful when they go after women because they risk offending all women, even the most conservative women. Tantaros said men need to back off from criticizing women and taking on women's issues, because it's a no-win debate for them.

Speaking of Mike Huckabee's recent foot-in-mouth moment regarding women's reproductive issues, Tantaros warned: "I think there needs to be a new rule. Don't take the bait, Republican men - leave it alone ... You're never gonna win."

Was Matt unwise to go after Michelle for supporting her husband? After all, that seems to be a very conservative, traditional even, position for Michelle to assume. This tweet is still fresh; however, time will tell if it works for Michelle or works for Matt, and even how it works for President Obama.
