Amid Benghazi information flowing in a slow "drip, drip, drip," Joseph Curl, Washington Times columnist and an editor of The Drudge Report, predicted Sunday that the Obama administration would redouble their defense. "Democrats will continue grasping at straws," forecast Curl.
Curl wasn't wearing his Drudge Report hat when he concluded the recent release of analytic reports from the bipartisan Senate Select Committee, whose members investigated the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012 attack in Libya, deserved more from him than a mere headline. Unlike Matt Drudge, the founder of Drudge, Curl is a long-time journalist who covered Washington for more than ten years.
Lately Matt Drudge confines his writing to mostly tweets. Matt recently blasted American citizens on his own Twitter page, shaming 'free people' for allowing NSA to spy on them. His tweet was a primal cry for revolt in 140 characters.
In Curl's opinion, to "get to the bottom of what top Obama officials knew and when they knew it," would require a narrow focus -- a thorough examination scrutinizing those who should be held accountable. He added, "Hillary Rodham Clinton should be front and center of the probes."
Democrat Senator Diane Feinstein, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee released a strong statement last Thursday which said in part: “"I hope this report will put to rest many of the conspiracy theories and political accusations about what happened in Benghazi ... I want the record to be clear: I condemn any efforts to use this report for political purposes.”
Since then, Feinstein defended Hillary whose name was mentioned a single time in an addendum, by a Republican. According to CBS, Feinstein expressed “regret” that the Republican addendum “unfairly criticizes Secretary Clinton,” adding that any media reports or partisan reports that claimed the report pointed a finger at Clinton were "patently false."
Curl also revisited the first round of reports from the Obama administration when the Obama administration continued to claim that the attack on the Benghazi compound was caused by spontaneous reaction to a video. Curl pointed out, "The report uses the word “terrorist” 70 times, something it took the president and his minions weeks to use. Later reports show the White House knew within hours that the attack was terrorism."
Though Curl didn't promote his article on the Drudge Report today, on his Twitter page Curl added a link to a video featured on Real Clear Politics which he used to back up his opinion that Democrats would push the limits of sensibility to defend Benghazi. The tweet: "New liberal talking point: Ambassador Stevens bears blame for his own death in Benghazi."
