Dropkick Murphys coming to the Congress Theater for two live shows (Photos)

When the Dropkick Murphys began scheduling their 2011 tour, Chicago had one little problem: One show just wasn't enough.

Philadelphia and New York had similar complaints, so additional shows were added in each of these three cities to accommodate adoring Dropkick Murphys fans.

The initial Chicago show was scheduled for Sunday, Feburary 27 with Against Me! Then Saturday, February 26 was added due to the overwhelming response to the news of the first gig. Chicago's own Naked Raygun joins the Murphys on Saturday. Tickets for both of these shows at the Congress Theater are available here.

Around now for almost a decade and a half, these Massachusetts Celtic punks are still going strong and even have a new album in the works - Going Out in Style - scheduled for an early 2011 release. And if you hit the movie theaters this holiday season you might get a little taste of the Dropkick Murphys there as well. Their song, "The Warrior's Code" from the 2005 album of the same name is currently being featured in the film The Fighter staring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. The Fighter is based on the life and career of boxer Micky Ward. Ward is featured on the cover of The Warrior's Code album and the song was written with him in mind.

And not that you'd want for anything after all this punk rock fodder, but make sure you also check out the film You Weren't There: A History of Chicago Punk 1977-84 which features Naked Raygun, the Effigies, Strike Under, Big Black, Articles Of Faith, Silver Abuse, Mentally Ill, Subverts, Negative Element, Tutu & the Pirates, DA, Rights of the Accused, Savage Beliefs, and End Result.
