'Drop Dead Diva' Comes Back To Life

You can't keep this Diva down.

Lifetime's popular hit Drop Dead Diva was sent to the afterlife in January. But no longer. Stand back: Diva rises.

The popular one-hour drama chronicles the quirky and often heartfelt adventures of an aspiring model, Deb, who, after dying in a car wreck, somehow returns to the here and now in the body of a plus-sized lawyer named Jane (played to winning ends by Brooke Elliott).

The show typically drew in big ratings and its September season finale was a hoot.

About that ...

Follow along: "Deb" was planning to marry Owen—remember her spirit is in Jane's body. But then ... Grayson, Deb's true love from her other life, suddenly professes his love to Jane—of course, the guy doesn't know "Deb" lives inside Jane's body. As Grayson kisses Jane, Owen pops in, suddenly has a heart attack and ... dies. (Ouch!)

It didn't stop there. At that moment, Jane's spirit, lost somewhere in limbo, returns and—wait for it—wakes up in Owen's body.

No doubt, upon hearing about the show's cancellation in January, fans called and wrote in, begging for the decision to be overturned. Look for new episodes to air in the coming months.

In the meantime, hats off the creative team for giving birth to one of the most inventive love triangles—make that love squares (or is it double squares?)—to hit television in, well ... ever.
