Each day, millions of parents across the nation put their children on a school bus, sending them off to a day of learning.
A school bus being in a car accident is every parent's worst nightmare.
This morning, in Suffolk County, a driver allegedly under the influence of drugs plowed into a school bus, resulting in a crash that caused a fire. According to a report on the case in Newsday, the suspect in the case is a 29-year-old woman from Central Islip. She has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
Fortunately, the school bus driver sprang in to action, and managed to get two of the children on the bus out of harm's way, just before the bus caught fire. The driver is being called a hero by many.
Thanks to the fast-thinking actions of the school bus driver, a potential tragedy was averted and these innocent children, who were simply riding to school, were saved. However, it is very important to remember to make good driving decisions on a daily basis- especially now, since school is back in session and our children are on the road.
