An unsuspecting good Samaritan picked up a fleeing burglar, drove him to the Hillsdale train station -- and then paid for his ticket, CLIFFVIEW PILOT is reporting.
The bandit's partner wasn't so lucky: A Bergen County Police K9 officer and a Woodcliff Lake detective quickly tracked him down.
Police rushed to the Tice's Corner Marketplace in Woodcliff Lake just after 9 o'clock Friday night. The bandits tried to throw them off by calling in an armed robbery nearby, but that proved fruitless.
Spotting the two burglars in a stolen car, Woodcliff Lake Detective Steve Regula chased them, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The car then crashed and both men bailed out.
Bergen County Police Officer Chris Ham and his tracking dog, Ayko, caught one of them soon after, in front of 1 Deerfield Road, behind Woodcliff Lake Road near the Garden State Parkway in Woodcliff Lake.
He was identified as Camilo Alexandro Pabon, 18, of Guttenberg.
The other found a good Samaritan willing not only to give him a lift but to pay for his ticket, as well, the source said.
