Driver killed in Palm Coast Wednesday after truck crashes into canal

A Palatka man was killed in a Flagler County accident Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP in Jacksonville says 61-year old Michael J. Halford was northbound on Belle Terre Parkway shortly after 9:30 Wednesday morning. Troopers say Halford’s pickup truck “…drifted into the Belle Terre Parkway center median…then veered across the northbound lanes… [and] entered the grass area east of the roadway….” The FHP says the pickup then continued northbound and into a canal alongside Royal Palms Parkway, becoming partly submerged in the canal. Halford was transported to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, but troopers report he did not survive the accident.
