When Sony announced that DriveClub would no longer be a PS4 launch title, many were disappointed in the news as they were looking forward to playing Evolution Studios’ new next-gen racer. Well, it seems the delay is proving beneficial as the title has been given a number of visual upgrades and there are more planned. On Oct. 27, Evolution Studios took to Facebook to discuss what the future holds for the visuals of DriveClub and what the development team plans to improve upon.
After sharing new gameplay footage of DriveClub on Facebook, Evolution noted that the lighting and environments would all look better soon as the development studio is working on upgrading these aspects. These upgrades will give way to more impressive ambient lighting while inside the car.
The company shared:
The sun, the clouds and the ambient lighting inside the car will all look better soon, because we're about to upgrade the lighting and atmospheric optics. When we do, we will share a full race with you. You won't have to wait much longer.
In addition to improved lighting visuals, Evolution also has plans to make big improvements to the sun, the clouds, and the entire sky. Likewise, the company shared on Oct. 25 via Twitter that they are now optimizing the reflections in the mirrors.
Lastly, Evolution detailed that visuals and lighting aren’t the only game aspects that will receive upgrades. The game’s AI and audio are bring improved upon because the company cares “about even the smallest details.” As a result, expect to hear “better engine” and “collision” sounds in DriveClub.
DriveClub is slated for an early 2014 release on PS4.
