DRIVECLUB director on PS4: Not even close to the 'limit of what the PS4 can do'

The PS4 is a very, very young console and has so much life in it. We're in the infantile stages of the system and it has years in front of it. All that said, we are getting incredible results from games like DRIVECLUB, and even with their stunning visuals, Evolution believes plenty more can be done with the PS4.

It was a topic we heard a lot about prior to the PS4 and Xbox One being announced, getting the most results out of the PS3 and Xbox 360 possible. It took developers nearly a decade to feel like they've maxed them out, but it'll be a while before we see that from PS4 developers. DRIVECLUB Game Director Paul Rustchynsky spoke about the input Evolution Studios had in the creation of the PS4 as well as how they are nowhere close to hitting its limits.

"The PS4 is fantastic to work with because it’s been built in collaboration with studios like ours. We’ve been able to provide input into the hardware and system software design to make sure we get the best tools to make the greatest games we can imagine.

"Looking back at what we’ve been able to do in the past two years, and how we’re continually finding new ways of getting even more performance out of the hardware, I don’t think we’re anywhere close to reaching the limit of what the PS4 can do yet," Rustchynsky said.

It should be years before we start hearing the development community say they've reached the PS4's limits. Now it may happen sooner than it did last generation, but the PS4 is still in the process of completing its first full year of being out on the market. Many believe 2015 will be the first year we see truly next-gen games, but 2014 still has plenty of incredible options to choose from.

DRIVECLUB is certainly one of those and it will be launching on Oct. 7 for the PS4 only. It's Evolution Studios' first crack at the system and from what we've seen so far, things are looking very promising for both DRIVECLUB and the PS4.

Thanks, Redbull!
