'DRIVECLUB' dev on breakthrough: What makes 'PlayStation 4 hardware so exciting'

DRIVECLUB will be launching in just a few short months and what a journey it has been. First being announced back in February of 2013, DRIVECLUB will finally get its turn in the sun on Oct. 7. This is quite possibly one of the best looking games we've ever seen and the PlayStation 4 is largely responsible for that.

The sophisticated technology the PlayStation 4 possesses has allowed developers at Evolution Studios to create one of the most dynamic, gorgeous worlds ever. Alex Perkins, who is the art director for DRIVECLUB, spoke about the system's incredible ability and how it has enabled them to see some major breakthroughs with developing DRIVECLUB.

"It’s all about the detail: the dampening surfaces, moisture absorption, changing material appearances, lighting in the sky, and so on.

"It’s amazing to see this come together; to see little details like rain forming puddles that can hold water, then dry out or get bigger depending on the terrain topology and changes to the temperature. To be able to make a breakthrough like this is what makes the PlayStation 4 hardware so exciting," Perkins said.

If you haven't had the chance to see any gameplay from DRIVECLUB, what is wrong with you? Just kidding, but you should seriously check some of it out. It's incredibly crisp, detailed and makes you feel like you're really driving through these exotic locations.

It looks like it has been worth the wait for DRIVECLUB. Sony has taken the right path in holding this game off until it is ready for release and come Oct. 7, DRIVECLUB should be the absolute best it can be. We're looking forward to DRIVECLUB and will have all the latest at and leading up to launch.
