Drive-in movies in Punta Gorda, Florida

See also

Drive-in movies are a thing of the past, so most people think. With new technology and large screen projectors many towns set up drive-in movies during the summer months. One such city is Punta Gorda.

On the third Friday of every month during the summer, there is a drive-in movie held in the Punta Gorda Marketplace property at 115 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda, Florida. Each month features a different movie and proceeds help benefit AMI Kids Crossroads. The lot opens for cars at 7:30 p.m. and the movie usually ends around 10:00 p.m. There is a fee to enter by the car load. Refreshments are available for purchase, usually hot dogs, popcorn and drinks or you can bring your own.

For more information visit AMI Kids Crossroads web site at and click on the Third Friday Drive-in link. The next movie coming up is the Rocky Horror Picture Show on July 18, 2014. The fee is $20 per car. If you pay ahead you get a coupon for a buy one get on free hot dog.

AMI Kids is a non-profit organization that provides residential services to teens that have trouble fitting into the foster care system. Your support to help this organization is much appreciated. While at the movie, you can tune in your radio to the station provided or bring a blanket or chairs and sit in the grass and listen over the loud speaker. Jump in your vehicle and bring the kids for a special night out under the stars.
